Job description

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager/Supervisor of Biomedical Engineering, the RTLS coordinator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the RTLS system.
This includes administration tasks, daily monitoring of all the alarms on the system, taking necessary actions related to the alarms, report generating, deployment of tags, and troubleshooting with internal departments and external vendors as required.
Candidates with some background in IT network and servers are preferable.

EDUCATION

  • Perform daily functional checks to ensure system stability.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the RTLS system, which includes:
o Patient tags
o Asset tags
o Staff duress badges
o Temperature tags
o Hand hygiene compliance
  • Deployment of any of the tags mentioned previously, which will include connecting with required stakeholders, evaluation of stock and inventory, programming of the tags, testing and confirming functionality, and any required follow-up activities.
  • Maintenance of a detailed list of RTLS-related expenditures and predict budgetary pressures.
  • Take necessary actions based on the daily reports generated by the RTLS system. This includes coordinating with the end users for battery replacements and maintaining a record of this work.
  • Initiate and coordinate with all the stakeholders, which include the internal MGH team and the respective vendors, with troubleshooting of the infrastructure and technical issues related to the RTLS system.
  • Maintain an accurate and updated database of all of the patient, asset, and staff duress tags, through liaison with Protection Services, Biomed, and clinical stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage the rolling program of battery replacements of all tags listed above.
  • Generate reports to support Protection Services for investigations as required.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the interoperability of RTLS with other connectivity pieces, such as Connexall, MobileConnex, Web Active Alarms, xProtect, Milestone, IMSMS, etc.
  • Participate and assist in the testing and commissioning of RTLS in the various phases of the Redevelopment project.
  • Onboarding and training of new staff as required.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the manager and supervisor of the Biomedical Engineering department.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum requirement of a college diploma in IT Network Infrastructure and/or Biomedical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience required in maintaining IT network infrastructure associated with RTLS.
  • Experience in using applications such as word-processing, database, and spreadsheet.
  • Demonstrated record of self-motivated behavior and perseverance to accomplish objectives in spite of obstacles.
  • Flexibility and adaptability regarding changes to work and managing multiple projects or tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work (technical and non-technical), and work in a team environment.
  • The discipline to perform regular monitored, controlled, and accurate reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.

  • Experience working in a health care environment is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs,
  • Ability to climb on ladder up to a height of 5 Meters
