Main accountabilities include:
- Provide leadership and actively develop the skills and capabilities of the Team (including, but not limited to: Compliance Training, Incident Reporting, Investigation Training, Risk Assessment Training, etc.).
- Support and provide expertise in the station facility, projects, and ongoing maintenance.
- Support and provide expertise for budgets in maintaining preventative maintenance of equipment at fuel storage facilities/systems.
- In collaboration with both the Operations Manager, GSE Supervisor and Facilities & Tank Farm Supervisor develop a schedule for preventative maintenance classification of equipment based on OEM and regulatory requirements to ensure proactive, rather than reactive activities occur.
- Ensure investigations take place into any incident/accident, non-conformity, or service delivery failure, with resulting corrective actions being established and maintained.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to be compliant, reduce risk, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
- Ensure safety and security policies are in place & consistent standards are implemented across the network.
- Ensure safety, security, and environmental compliance is being strictly adhered to.
- Develop, update, and support continuous training of station Emergency Response Plan in collaboration with corporate EH&S, local mutual aid authorities, airport authorities and contract holders.
- Meet quarterly with stakeholders to discuss continuous improvement plans, upcoming audits, regulatory opportunities, health, and safety.
- Provide timely regional management reports weekly and monthly as required.
- Collaborate and support the development of a regional scorecard with achievable KPI’s to determine progress and identify areas of improvement.
- Proactively promote a ‘safety first’ culture.
- Develop a ‘first in class’ audit program to reduce compliance findings Year over Year by 10% per Atlantic Canada station location.
- Develop robust facility inspection program in full compliance with the current CSA B826 requirements. Cross referenced compliance with IATA/IFQP standards.
- Liaison with industry auditors and prepare for audits, manage the operational team, and respond to CARS in a professional and timely way.
- Work closely with Health & Safety Committees and implement best practices at all regional airports.
- Liaise with the regulatory aviation authorities within region to ensure compliance.
- Join CSA committees responsible for B836.
- Join Canadian SAF committee in support of injection and facility management of sustainable aviation fuel.
- Monitor changes in legislation & amend operational training requirements accordingly.
- Lead operational team in accident, incident reporting & investigation working collaboratively with Corporate Environmental & Risk team and FSM.
- Facilitate the distribution of network safety and security alerts on a knowledge-sharing basis to increase awareness.
- Develops SOP and process documentation for best practices and safety during projects including for third-party contractors and to ensure safe operations in the region.
- Provide leadership, coach, and develop employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrates considerable experience in the field of compliance, safety, and security.
- Demonstrates an ability to both design & deliver SOP’s.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and the ability to engage effectively with senior decision makers.
- Facilitation skills – able to engage with teams and deliver information in an educational way and provide guidance on best practices.
- Knowledge and experience in the aviation industry and/or jet fuel compliance and/or Quality Assurance strongly valued.
- Ability to manage projects & people.
- Self-motivated, disciplined with a can-do attitude.
- The ability to work in a regional environment, work closely with consortium members and airline industry members representing 7 airports with regulators, government officials and auditors.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at different levels.
- Prepared to travel within operational Region and other corporate locations as necessary, to implement best practices and train teams accordingly.
- PC literate – Microsoft Office Suite and other corporate programs
- Well written – clear and concise in documentation and SOP, policy writing, reporting and procedures.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Well organized and able to manage various directives simultaneously.
