Overview:
CANDIDATE PROFILE: The ideal candidate is highly skilled hands-on operations focused supervisor with experience in interpreting and enforcing fire and safety legislation, training, auditing, and First Aid operations. The candidate will have proven leadership skills supervising associates for a large facility coupled with experience in Guest Service, Safety, and Emergency Services.
SCOPE OF POSITION: In conjunction with the Manager, effectively manage and coordinate our efforts in the Health & Safety Department. Oversee the smooth operation of the Department including the Fire & Safety operation, Health Centre operation, safety incident investigations, site inspections, and carry Department Safety Duty during the operating season. In addition, assist the Manager in executing the park’s Health & Safety programs, and ensure all seasonal hiring, training and development is executed annually for the Department. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Responsibilities:
Act as the Safety Department Management representative as scheduled
Provide direct supervision and support to the seasonal Safety Department supervisors
Supervise the Safety Department teams (Fire Safety Technicians, Medical Responders, and Safety Specialists) which includes training, scheduling, and performance feedback
Assist with the hiring and training of the seasonal safety team
Monitor departmental staffing needs to ensure the efficient operation of the Department
Assist in managing and enforcing the park’s Health & Safety policies and programs, and provide guidance, as needed
Coordinate the testing and inspections of safety-related equipment throughout the park, including maintaining the park’s Fire Extinguisher program
Audit Departmental Safety PPE (e.g. fall protection equipment, respirators)
Assist Ride Operations/Rides Maintenance Departments with Ride Evacuation Plans and equipment
Complete annual updates to Canada’s Wonderland’s Fire Safety Plan
Provide First Aid assistance as needed during the park’s non-operating days
Assist with maintaining the park’s WHMIS/SDS program
Assist park guests with their safety-related inquiries/concerns
Manage budget for the Fire and First Aid areas under the direction of the Safety Manager
Monitor park compliance for external audits and inspections
Follow up/investigation of park safety-related matters
Coordinate Safety training programs for designated associates
Ordering of supplies for the Fire Safety/First Aid areas to maintain efficiency
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a Fire Protection Program
Work/volunteer experience in the Emergency Services Field
Knowledge of fire supression systems, fire alarms/panels is required.
Previous supervisory experience is required
Advanced First Aid and CPR certification (First Responder level or above)
Previous Canada’s Wonderland experience in a safety-related role is an asset
Excellent communication, technical, presentation, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code and Occupational Health & Safety Act
Available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays
Valid Ontario Driver’s License. If hired, a driver’s abstract is required
Able to wear personal protective equipment deemed necessary to perform this job safely (may include; gloves, mask and/or face shield, steel-toe footwear, etc.)
