JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Safety Lead, you will work as part of the People and Culture team and are responsible for championing compliance with health and safety standards and legal regulations, with the goal of reducing or eliminating workplace injuries or illnesses and establishing a positive culture of health and safety.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Build and maintain collaboration, serve as a resource, provide support to leaders and employees on safety issues, and foster a positive safety culture at Triple E RV.
  • Co-Chair the Health and Safety Committee, working with the committee to promote and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the People & Culture Lead to develop, review, and revise comprehensive safety policies and procedures that align with Triple E RV’s safety goals.
  • Develop and maintain Safe Work Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis, the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Participate in and coordinate safety assessments, audits, and inspections with departmental leaders. Provide guidance and support, fostering problem-solving discussions to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain safety documentation records to ensure compliance with safety regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop proactive corrective actions from investigation findings, actively contribute to safety program implementation, and assist in creating effective communication strategies to enhance safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with Workers Compensation Board (WCB) for filing claims and supporting employees and leaders on return to work and accommodations.
  • Work with Workplace Safety and Health on general inspections, incident reporting and other requirements as needed.
  • Assist the Training Lead in designing and delivering safety training programs, ensuring they are comprehensive, engaging, and align with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and maintain safety forms and training in our Learning Management System (eLearning).
  • Facilitate safety onboarding and other training as needed.
  • Lead the maintenance of Triple E RV’s Safe Certification, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Provide transportation for employees to the clinic, hospital or eye doctor as needed.
  • Participate in People and Culture team meetings, initiatives and goals.
  • Stay informed about the latest safety laws, regulations, and industry standards, proactively updating policies, procedures, and practices to reflect changes.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within Triple E RV.
  • Ability to work effectively and inclusively with a large range of people, both within and outside the department.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess the situation and make a decision.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Ability to effectively create training material.
  • Ability to effectively train employees.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in a health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and understanding of basic production tools, equipment, and products.
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) or CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation would be preferred.
  • Intermediate First Aid with CPR C certification an asset.
  • Have the legal right to work in Canada.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday, 7am-3:30pm, on-site.
  • Working in an office environment with access to a sit-stand desk.
  • Will be required to be in the production facility where you may be exposed to dust and chemicals. When in the production facility, safety glasses and hearing protection are required.
