Brief Overview:
Located in the pristine boreal forest of Northern Saskatchewan, the Sakitawak Conservation Area Project is a Metis lead Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA) proposal that seeks to protect habitats of vulnerable species by promoting sustainable development practices, advance Indigenous ways of life, identify knowledge systems, and implement stewardship activities. The project is based in Ile-a-la-Crosse Saskatchewan.
The project is an agreement between the A La Baie Metis Local 21, Metis Nation Saskatchewan, and Environment and Climate Change Canada. The projects governance board, the ICS4, is composed of representatives from the Metis, the village of Ile-a-la-Crosse, the fishermans cooperative, and the N-14 trappers association.
Metis Nation Saskatchewan is seeking a strong team player committed to the highest quality services. The Sakitawak Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for providing support in any way in implementing engagements as it pertains to the Sakitawak Conservation Area Project and other engagement events in support of the Metis of the area. These responsibilities include but are not limited to providing support for community information events, on-the-land activities, cultural activities, engagement First Nations, other Metis communities, as well as with stakeholders such as municipalities, forestry companies, and the province.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assist and implement engagement plans with various Rights holders and stakeholders.
-Provide support in all matters relating to the Project.
-Provide confidence to engagement participants of a safe space for collaboration.
