Sample Preparation Technician

MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.

We have an opening in our Prince George location.

We are looking for a dedicated and detail orientated self-starter who has the following skills and experience:

Responsibilities:

• Receive and enter sample information into our computer systems.
• Prepare samples for testing including separation, drying, crushing, and splitting in accordance with our standard operating procedures and policies.
• Perform QC checks and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Weighing and data entry of samples to ensure accuracy and volume monitoring.
• Use crushing and other equipment to process samples.
• Utilise the existing computerized system to manage stock.
• Some lifting is required, up to 50 lbs throughout the day.

Requirements:

· Sound numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy.

· Proven ability to work effectively either as an individual or member of a team and relate effectively with staff on all levels.

· Proven ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

· Ability to quickly learn new information, processes and procedures.

· Proven ability to meet deadlines and identify and deal with problems.

· Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite, Word & Excel

· High School education is a pre-requisite.

· Previous experience in mining companies preferred, but not essential.

· Ability to interact with different cultures.

· Good written and verbal communication skills in English

· Previous experience with the use of a pallet jack is an asset

· Some physical lifting, up to 50 pounds, is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
