ABOUT OUR OPERATION


The objective of Sanajiksanut is to increase Inuit workforce in all of AEM’s Nunavut operations by contributing to the development of skills and competencies of the Inuit population in the Kivalliq region. The Sanajiksanut Process is composed of 4 steps: Employment Information Session, Online Application, Pre-employment Training, and Hiring. In completing these stages of the Sanajiksanut Process, applicants will better prepare themselves for future employment with AEM or one of its contractors.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:


We are looking for potential candidates interested to receive training to become Tire Technician.
Please note that this opportunity is for a Contractor (Fountain Tire).

The successful candidate will be trained to:

  • Install, balance, rotate, and repair passenger, light truck, medium truck, farm, industrial and OTR tires, and wheels in a safe and efficient manner as directed by the scope of service contract.
  • Complete comprehensive tire reports, which may include detail of tire history, average tire hours, tire costs per hour per fleet or per tire size, monthly and year to date costs, cause of failures, and tire budget projects for each year.
  • Plan suggested schedule tire rotation in coordination with site maintenance personnel and maintain all tire records in accordance with computerized tracking systems; this includes managing tire rotations to maximize tire and equipment performance.
  • Participate in all safety initiatives, as required or assigned, to guarantee safety at Fountain Tire. This includes adhering to jurisdiction’s Mines Act and client safety procedures and regulations.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Previous work in tire industry is considered and asset.
  • Ability to lift 25+ kilograms.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and customers; this includes good communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
  • Opportunity reserved for Inuit candidates.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Flights to and from the mine site is provided from all the Kivalliq communities, Mirabel and Val d'Or.
