Position Overview:
The Ministry of Highways, Operation and Maintenance Branch is seeking to hire several Equipment Operators as a part of a Section Crew for Sand Sulphur in Prince Albert. You will operate heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, log hours of operation, repairs and amounts of materials used. These positions are labour service positions.
Position Details:
Work together as a team to create a healthy and safe work environment.
Ensure the safety of the travelling public through surveillance and maintenance activities.
Operate, service, and maintain heavy equipment, such as tandem trucks (with specialized attachments), and front-end loaders.
Operate controls, clutches and levers to apply varying amounts of material.
Keep daily records including hours of operation, pre-trip inspections, and materials used.
Be willing and able to work under physically and mentally demanding conditions such as physical labour, heavy lifting, and stressful situations.
Be approachable and flexible, self-motivated to complete tasks, adaptable to changing work situations, and must work well in an inclusive and diverse environment.
Possess basic computer skills to enter and submit timecards, expense claims, etc.
Work flexible hours and be away from Prince Albert headquarters on a weekly basis.
Qualifications:
Must possess a valid class 1A driver's licence.
Experience in the operation of heavy duty motor equipment.
Experience driving a tandem truck.
Must be physically fit for this demanding position which involves heavy lifting.
