The Sandblaster & Coater is responsible for preparing the substrate for coating and applying coatings to the INTERNAL and EXTERNAL of pipe, vessels and internals.
FIELD POSITION - staying in camp or hotel accommodations with LOA
Duties & Responsibilities
1.Prep for Coatings
Responsible for preparing the substrate for coating
- Ensure substrate is the one specified in the Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
- Investigate items for deficiencies and complete surface prep report
- Perform surface preparation inspections on blast surface – requires NACE inspection
- Perform basic surface preparation – solvent wiping, hand tool and power tool
- Analyze and identify substrate to required specification as per ITP
- Estimate the amount of material to coat the structure
2.Blasting
Responsible for performing abrasive blasting
- Ensure blast media is properly stored
- Perform the inspections and tests on blast equipment – blotter, checking hoses, etc
- Responsible for basic compressor functions – operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Ensure blast media will meet surface profile need for coating system
- Blast substrate to specific condition
- Visually inspect blast and complete touch ups before next NACE inspection
3.Coating
Responsible for application of coatings
- Ensure coatings are stored in an appropriate environment – consulting the SDS
- Perform the basic coating pump functions – operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Apply internal coating - spraying
- Perform application of coating failures and possible remedies
- Identify coating failures and possible remedies
- Perform application test and inspections
4.Other - Safety
Responsible for following all safety procedures at SCS
- Ensure all inspections forms are completed properly
- Ensure all safety policies are being followed
- Able to safely drive company vehicles
- Able to safely operate compressors

Salary: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
