Sawmill Cleaner

Overview:

Carson Lake lumber is looking for the right people to join our Clean Up Team. This is an entry-level position to support sawmill operations.

Responsibilities:

Keeps production areas clean and safe and assists in other areas of the sawmill in a safe and productive manner.

• Keeps designated areas, as assigned by supervisor, clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips and other foreign objects;
• Operates chain saw to cut up scrap lumber and broken logs;
• Uses hand tools to move sawdust, chips and bark into conveyors, bins;
• May pull strips off of transfer chains into conveyors to chippers;
• Empties all garbage cans in and around sawmill;
• Provides assistance where needed.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
• This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, and safety shoes.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: From $16.55 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
