Sawmill Planerman (Experienced)

Boucher Bros. Lumber in looking for an experienced Planerman at our Nampa, Alberta Mill-site. This role will be responsible for the safe & efficient operation of the Planer and will be a key role in producing our high quality lumber products. This role will report directly to our Planing Mill Production Supervisor.

Boucher Bros Lumber is located just north west of the community of Nampa, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor the functionality of all components in the Planing Mill

Establish maintenance schedules to maximize Optimum Planing time. This includes, but not limited to:

• Knife changing schedules.
• Greasing schedule for all components in the Planing Mill.

Follow the manufacturers preventative maintenance programs to ensure proper functioning of the equipment.

Ensure the dressing of the lumber is within company specifications.

Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed while maintaining the Planer facility.

Monitor all mechanical components for wear and replace as per manufacturers specifications.

Submit a maintenance log to the Planer Supervisor.

Assist with mitigating and solving unforeseen challenges that can happen arise a shift.

Night shift rotation may be required.

Conduct Safety Inspections as directed by the General Manager.

Coordinate & cooperate with other Production and Support Supervisors on matters that directly affect the Production and Performance of the Planer, as well as associated equipment.

Other duties assigned by General Manger.

Qualifications:

Competency Certificate

Current Standard First Aid & Level C CPR/AED Certificate

High level of integrity and work ethic.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent time management and organization skills.

Team player but also possess the ability to work alone.

Ability to document tasks.

Written and Oral communication skills in English and/or French.

Ability to use Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel, as well as, Google Docs is an asset.

Education and Experience:

Min of one year of relevant Lumber Mill Experience.

High school diploma preferred but not required.

Other Requirements:

Proper Use of Personal Protective Equipment in all areas of Mill Site including:

• Hard Hats
• Safety Footwear
• WHMIS Eye Protection
• Gloves - As per hazard analysis
• Ear Protection - 85 Dbl Plus
