Scale House Operator

Job Description:

Scale House Operators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of a Scale House. They ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and that all regulatory requirements are met. In addition to this, they may also be tasked with providing customer service or other value-added services such as weighing large items or vehicles that cannot fit on standard scales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining records of truck arrivals and departures, including times, locations, and other information
• Control traffic patterns in yard
• Providing information to drivers about delays and other changes in schedules
• Communicating with other dispatchers, companies, and local authorities regarding truck movement and status
• Instructing operators on proper procedures for entering a work zone or other area that may require special precautions
• Maintaining a safe work environment by following safety regulations and procedures designed to prevent injuries or fatalities

Experience and Qualifications:

• POS Program experience an asset
• Knowledge and experience of safe processes around heavy machinery/dump trucks
• Ability to identify aggregates
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to follow protocols
• Excel knowledge; spreadsheets, reports and tracking systems

Salary: $31.00-$34.00 per hour
