The schedule Integrity flight Manager’s role is to contribute actively to the mandate of the Schedule Integrity team in optimizing scheduling parameters and schedule operational outcomes, allowing Air Canada to transform into an industry top performer for on-time-performance (OTP) while maintaining profitability and schedule connectivity. This role monitors, analyses, manages, and proposes modifications to the Schedule Design parameters which include Block Times (flight duration), aircraft Turn Times and passenger Connection Time, in an effort to improve OTP and minimize passenger misconnections. The Schedule Integrity Manager supports Planning and Scheduling in creating schedule efficiencies, while working closely with the Operational branches.

Responsibilities: 

  • Define requirements and manage block times for every city-pair and fleet for all carriers in the Air Canada network, according to Air Canada’s block strategy and including all exceptions, constraints and corrections.
  • Monitor block performance, block deviations/overrides and missing blocks; when necessary, rectify the situation in accordance with block strategy, and commercial or operational constraints.
  • Monitor and analyse historical misconnections; identify issues, propose solutions, and coordinate with Planning, Scheduling and SOC to minimize future potential misconnects.
  • Review Minimum Connection Times (MCT) and make recommendations to current rules; work with Planning and Sched Change on rule implementation, communication and PNR rebooking.
  • Review on a regular basis aircraft turns on future schedule comparative to minimum turn times. Report to Scheduling and Planning on deviations in an effort to minimize them; evaluate potential misconnections and communicate to SOC any remaining deviations due to schedule constraints.
  • Define business requirements and coordinate with Commercial BI and IT teams for the creation of dynamic dashboards to support in the monitoring of schedule parameters and decision making.
  • Create and apply processes and procedures related to Scheduling Parameters in order to meet Air Canada’s timelines and accuracy targets.
  • Lead meetings with Planning, Scheduling and Performance Engineering to communicate and explain the team’s findings, and get buy-in.
  • Produce and present reports and analysis for higher management and facilitate decision making.
  • Support Scheduling and Planning teams with developing strategies and scenarios for network and fleet optimization.
  • Organise the shared network and document every work produced – analysis, procedure, updates, HR related documents and 101s – in an effort to facilitate the work of the whole team, and delegate more easily.
  • Potentially hire, train, manage coop student and/or new employee.

Qualifications

  • University degree required with specialization in any of the following: business analytics, economics, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to generate Excel reports and successfully translate and communicate the data at various levels. Experience in coding and SQL is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and think outside the box to find creative solutions.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Results oriented and sense of ownership; Reliable ; detail-oriented ; patient.
  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the role.
  • Passion for the airline/travel industry is an asset.
  • Experience in supervising employees.
