    Position Summary


    Are you someone who has a real passion for helping others? Are you a registered Radiological Technologist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in mammography screening? We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our department.

    Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as well as within a client and family centered care model and the vision and values of the organization. Performs routine screening mammography procedures working permanent evening and/or weekend shifts. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the Radiology Information System (RIS), preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures, operating computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data, monitoring patients during procedures and monitoring equipment performance. May perform general radiology exams as required.

    Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 12:00 to 20:00, 14:00 to 18:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:00 to 16:00

    University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility (268 beds) in Northern Health and is the hub for specialized health services. It is a full service hospital and home to a new cancer centre for Northern BC, including a wide range of cancer treatments. Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia. UHNBC is also a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions.

  • Qualifications


  • Current Certification with the CAMRT.

  • Successful completion of CAMRT Mammography 1, or equivalent.

  • One year's recent experience in related Mammography procedures.


  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant professional associations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.

  • Broad knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.

  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.

  • Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
