SEASONAL CAMPUS WORKERS

Shawnigan Lake School is looking to boost our team with Seasonal Campus Workers

to assist in a variety of areas of our School campus.

We have opportunities available from April/May through August 2024 in

Maintenance & Grounds and Events & Hospitality

MAINTENANCE & GROUNDS

Duties could include:

· Painting

· Construction and carpentry

· Facilities maintenance

· Furniture moves and furniture assembly

· Mechanical work

· Watering

· Mowing and weed eating

· Weeding and garden clean up

· Other maintenance and grounds-related tasks

We are looking for team members with the following:

· Energetic with a willingness to take on new tasks and learn new skills

· Team players

· Creative problem solvers

· Flexibility with work schedule and hours

· An adaptable mindset

· Leadership skills

· Able to work in variable climate conditions, indoors and outdoors, with and around various machinery

· Aged 16 or older, or who will be going into at least grade 11 in the fall of 2024

· Availability to work full-time over the summer (preferred)

· Experienced in the use of hand tools, electric tools, hand carts & furniture dollys (preferred)

· Experienced in use of landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, weed eaters, power washer etc. (preferred)

· Class 5 BC Driver’s License (an asset)

· WHMIS certification (an asset)

EVENTS & HOSPITALITY

Duties could include:

· Housekeeping and dorm accommodation turnover

· Event set up, take down and clean up

· Food delivery

· Bussing tables and serving

· Event decorating

· Other hospitality-related tasks

We are looking for team members with the following:

· Flexibility with work schedule and hours

· Leadership skills

· Able to work in variable climate conditions, indoors and outdoors

· Aged 16 or older, or who will be going into at least grade 11 in the fall of 2024

· Availability to work full-time over the summer (preferred)

· Previous experience in housekeeping, serving or hospitality (preferred)

· Class 5 BC Driver’s License (an asset)

· FoodSafe Level 1 (an asset)

· Serving it Right (an asset)

· WHMIS certification (an asset)

Wage: $18-$21 per hour (depending on experience, qualifications and internal parity)

Salary: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Work Location: In person
