Commissionaires is a not-for-profit provider of security services that operates across the nation. There are now 15 divisions representing all of the provinces of Canada and three territories. Commissionaires Southern Alberta is responsible for providing professional security services for Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Suffield. We have protected people and property for public and private sector clients from coast to coast for more than 90 years.
Job Purpose
The primary responsibilities of the SOC Operator includes, but is not limited to:
· Working with access control system, triage alarms, monitor accordingly, and dispatch resources as required
· Provide remote Access Control services at designated Non-staffed Access points
· Provide access to airport staff, with approval, into access controlled spaces
· Vigilant in ensuring that only authorized entry is permitted
· Assist during all incidents, i.e. monitor and review VMS efficiently and effectively for intelligence gathering, provide direction to the Posts, MOA and AOC, etc.
· Dispatch onsite Security and/or Police Service as required/instructed
· Maintain visual surveillance pending arrival of Security and/or Police Service, while monitoring the situation via VMS
· Provide assistance as per SOP’s to Access Control and Terminal Patrol guards on persons who present or are identified to be holding expired, void, cancelled, or damaged passes or ID badges
· Enter reports into Airport Authority provided incident reporting system on all security breaches, criminal offenses, suspicious activities, unattended items/vehicles, etc.
· Ensure function of all critical cameras and systems
· Implement enhanced security measures; safety protocol as directed by the Airport Authority
· Report all known or suspected safety, security and/or criminal activities immediately to the IOC via radio.
· Guards to maintain notebooks which detail all, activities, events, reports, etc. To be audited and records of such to be maintained by the Contractor
· Guards must complete detailed Incident Report forms for all incidents / events which occurred during their patrol and be submitted and approved to the Supervisor prior to end of shift
· Guard shall ensure that information is only released to the Airport Authority Security Staff, and the Supervisor/Operations Manager
· Guard shall only take direction from the Supervisor/Operations Manager, and/or the Airport Authority Representative or Designate
· All tasks reported and recorded daily via Contractor provided technology
Personnel Requirements
· Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant as defined in the “Immigration Act”. If a Canadian Citizen, hold a Canadian Birth Certificate or Canadian Citizenship Card OR if a Landed Immigrant, hold a valid Permanent Residence card.
· Must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Must maintain a Transportation Security Clearance at all times for the duration of the Contract.
· Must hold an Alberta Security Guard license.
· Must hold an Emergency or Standard First Aid certificate
· Must hold a Class 5 (non-GDL) Drivers License.
· Required to be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Additional languages are considered an asset.
· Personnel are expected to be physically able to perform the job assigned to them.
· Maintain a high level of radio proficiency.
· Formal education sufficient for effective communication, including reading, writing and comprehension and effective decision making as required by the position.
