Now Hiring: Senior Analyst, Finance Process Improvement

The Finance Process Improvement team supports the ongoing development, implementation, and optimization of the Finance operating model as part of Finance Transformation at West Fraser by performing two main functions: (1) provide finance expertise and leadership on major cross-functional projects, and (2) lead finance continuous improvement initiatives. In both workstreams, you will solve complex challenges with innovative solutions and work with stakeholders to design and evaluate systems and processes of the future. Your focus will be on standardizing processes, maximizing efficiencies, simplifying tasks, and driving consistency and automation across our organization while maintaining high standards for financial reporting and integrity of internal controls.

Reporting to the Vancouver Finance Process Improvement Manager you will work on key initiatives within the order-to-cash cycle, however, there will be opportunities to work in other areas of finance and the business. You will be joining a project team that is in the midst of a major system implementation and will support and participate in UAT, change management, cutover and hypercare. This role has no regular tasks tied to period-end, so if you are looking to break free from month-end and put your creative problem-solving skills to the test, then this is the role for you!

Key Duties:

  • Analyze complex opportunities and problems, including system upgrades and conversions, from a broad functional and cross-business perspective. Liaise between the finance team, finance organization and internal and external partners to identify requirements, design systems and processes, perform testing, and analyze and evaluate results.
  • Identify gaps and execute Process Improvement opportunities for the design, development, and simplification of processes and workflows. Drive consistency and optimize enhancements for long-term scale.
  • Design, participate in, and evaluate the testing of systems and processes, ensuring high quality and completeness of the testing.
  • Prepare and maintain robust process flowcharts, standard operating procedures, user guides, and training materials.
  • Communicate and address change management plans. Adopt and establish best practices as new systems and automation are implemented.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Process Improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to deliver measurable and sustainable business results.
  • Support the development of appropriate metrics to monitor enhancements and maintain performance.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, management, or technology
  • Professional accounting designation is preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant job experience in business Process Improvement, business transformation, project management, technology management, IT, or continuous improvement
  • Experience working in a SOX control environment is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • A detailed and proactive approach to work and a mindset for Process Improvement and efficiency
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Oracle EBS, JDE, and BI reporting is considered an asset

Our highly competitive compensation package includes:

  • Competitive base salary with annual bonus opportunity
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
  • The salary range for this position is usually between $95,000-$105,000 depending on skills, location, and experience.
