Adecco is currently seeking a full-time Senior Application Advisor for an established oil and gas company based in Calgary, AB. As a Senior Application Advisor, you will primarily focus on performing application configuration activities in line with business application configuration standards and best practices. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, configure, and implement specialized application software that satisfies application solution design requirements.

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement improvements that follow IT standards, best practices, and processes.

  • Inform Solution Architects and Project Managers on the status of pertinent tasks.

  • Collaborate with Application Solution Architects, Portfolio Architects, Senior Business Analysts, Release Coordinator, and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality.

  • Participate in assessments for new requests.

  • Participate in tier 3 application support activities including incident management and the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.

  • Provide continuity with Application and Infrastructure Management operational groups during service transition.

  • Oversight to execution of test plans, debugging and application of subsequent fixes.

  • Assist in the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments.

  • Perform detailed activity task management including task estimates and task progress updates.

  • Identify and evaluate risks and participate in mitigation and control activities including system upgrades.

  • Carry out testing of disaster recovery aligning to the Business Impact Assessments for applicable applications.

  • Sustain acumen of business function(s) systems, processes, capabilities.

  • Oversee sub portfolio support (health, service provider escalation, problem owner).

  • Support Business Partner, Enterprise Architect and Portfolio Architect on technical strategies.

  • Monitor delivery quality of service providers and escalations including incidents, operations meetings, vendor management metrics, aging tickets.

  • Support IT control activities (SOX, Cyber, PCI) and support audits.

  • Manage system lifecycles (tech currency, license management).

  • Assist in IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization and renewals.

  • Oversee delivery of enhancement scope and defect resolution (accountable for: business requirements, product quality assurance, change approval/RFCs).

  • Accountable for validation of CMDB and support documentation currency and accuracy.

  • Assist in operational demand intake including analysis, shaping, facilitating prioritization and planning.

  • Partner with Portfolio Architecture to create and maintain operational roadmaps for relevant, critical applications.

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field required.

  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in application support, application development or application configuration

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with IT in an oil and gas in the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) domain

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a tier 3 service role and in collaborating with external Application Managed Service providers

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting critical systems on Linux and Microsoft platforms

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting trade capture and ETRM systems across Crude Oil, Natural Gas, NGLs, Refined Products, Derivatives such as Allegro, Right Angle, Egistix

  • Working knowledge of system development using Java, C# .NET/CORE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting systems on Oracle and SQL Server databases

  • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, customer service, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and facilitate collaboration.

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
