What is the opportunity?

Technology is the engine that drives us forward and RBC is continuing to evolve to meet changing customer needs through technology and innovation. The Senior Communications Specialist will play a critical role in supporting key platform and RBC Enterprise initiatives events, communications, and online tools, by providing strategic communications advice and counsel, planning and execution with a focus on employee, leader, technical and operational successes, and change communications.

Please note that this role is a 20-month Fixed-term Contract.

What will you do?

  • Strategic communications planning and creative communications delivery to build awareness, excitement, understanding and engagement of key CCTMP (Cheque, Cash, Trade and Merchant Payments) and enterprise initiatives.

  • Independently, develop, design, and execute highly effective communications, sometimes distilling technological information into consumable language and storytelling.

  • Working independently, provide end-to-end communications advise, council and support to senior executives/leaders for key initiative/events.

  • Continually research and identify opportunities to provide engaging, multi-channel communications tactics; including video, blogs as well as recommend other creative, unique, and innovative tactics to meet objectives.

  • Develop and manage online communications tools for CCTMP and enterprise initiatives; including, Connect strategy development, execution, collaboration, and user engagement.

  • Share the management and delivery of CCTMP and enterprise initiatives, Calendar of Events i.e., Town Halls, All Hands Calls, Ask Us Anything sessions, Senior Leadership Offsites etc.

  • Manage platform’s Tech & Operational Successes process by collaborating to capture, communicate and promote successes across RBC businesses and functions.

  • Continually assess, measure and report on communication processes, events, and online tools effectiveness for the purpose of continual improvement.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • College, university degree or equivalent experience in communications, digital media, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of related experience

  • Proven ability to execute innovative and creative communication techniques.

  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal with the ability to distil complex ideas into understandable and non-technical language.

  • Strategic and creative thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and experience and confidence interacting with executives and senior management and effectively presenting a point of view across varying levels of the organization

  • Strong proficiency using electronic communication technology and software; specifically, RBC Connect, Web Content Management, SharePoint, WebEx, Survey tools, Camtasia (video editing software).

  • Strong graphic design/visualization skills; including, understanding of style, consistency, and color sense.

  • Results-focused and deadline sensitive.
