As the Senior Corporate Financial Analyst, you will report to the Finance Leader, Corporate Accounting and provide financial expertise as well you will be the process owner of several independent and technical bank interface systems. Primary duties include:
- Interpret and apply The City's financial policies, procedures and Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Prepare operating budget and updates to the budget systems.
- Complete Citywide reconciliations for Accounts Payable and Payroll bank accounts, US and Euro bank accounts, prepaid expenses and manual accrual liability.
- Prepare month end entries for Accounts Payable cheques, allocate bank charges/fees to Business Units and clear clearing accounts.
- Prepare, file and remit Unclaimed Personal Properties to the Province on an annual basis.
- Prepare monthly management reports and provide variance analysis.
- Create financial statements and supporting schedules during periodics and yearend.
- Liaise with internal and external clients including provincial government.
Qualifications
- The successful applicant must have completed at least 13 courses recognized by CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant).
- At least 4.5 years of progressive financial and accounting experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel is required.
- Previous experience with PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM), Hyperion Budget System and Human Capital Management (HCM) will be considered an assets.
- Experience in accounting for large operating and/or capital budgets and capital financing will be considered an asset.
- You have strong technical skills in accounting including a familiarity with the preparation of working papers, analysis, and ongoing monitoring of operating and/or capital budgets.
- You have demonstrated creative analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and cross-departments.
