Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Operating and Finance Officer, the Director of Finance oversees all financial aspects of business to support adMare's financial strategy and planning.

This is a 12 months Maternity Leave Contract position, based in our Montreal location, working in hybrid environment. ( 2 - 3 days in office and offsite setting).

Responsibilities:


Financial reporting

  • Ensure the financial functions and reporting of the organization are executed in compliance with GAAP and within all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial statements and stakeholder reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with ASNPO standards.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage year-end audit and liaise with auditors.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Financial Analysis

  • Prepare quarterly departmental and financial variance analysis, manage cashflows and prepare cashflow forecasts, and lead preparation of annual budgets.
  • Prepare all relevant analysis, reporting and presentations for Board, Committee and management meetings
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting adMare's mission & objectives, i.e., ongoing projects, proposals, business development, business processes, infrastructure, and performance measures.

Stakeholder relations

  • Manage key external relationships: suppliers, lenders, auditors, tax accountants and tax authorities.

Team Management

  • Oversee a team of 10 that include Procurement, Accounts payable, financial reporting & analysis and Payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and look for areas of improvement

Technology Implementation

  • Oversee the financial softwares and lead improvements.
  • Support the expansion and gain further efficiencies from the organizations ERP system.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • University degree in Accounting or Commerce, as well as a CPA (CA) designation with minimum 10 years of relevant experience (knowledge and experience working within not-for-profit and in the Life Sciences industry is an asset).
  • Ability to summarize complex issues and to identify root causes through sound analysis.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical, and drives for continuous improvement, leveraging and adapting system functionality and challenging existing processes.
  • Strong leadership and ability to develop employees, provide guidance, direction, and training, and promote a positive working environment.
  • Extraordinary team player and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where quality, innovation, speed of decision making, and execution is critical to organizational success.
  • Results driven, energetic, creative, and hardworking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and highly developed organizational skills.
  • Highly professional and the ability to develop virtual and local relationships.
  • Quick learner and able to understand new concepts including their application in the business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to work effectively with a diverse team of business and scientific professionals. French written and spoken skills an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred, and excellent knowledge of and skill in using MS Office.

Position Base Salary Range: 130,800 - 196,200. The salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

The state of the language situation and the assessment of the language needs of our company justify the requirement of knowledge of a language other than French for this position. In this case, the successful candidate for this position is required to have an excellent command of English, both spoken and written, due to the fact that the tasks to be performed include the responsibility to maintain, on a continuous and daily basis, relations with our Canadian team, whose main language of oral and written exchange is English, and to be able to discuss scientific and business concepts competently and in detail in this language.
