About the Role

Senior Financial Analyst
Full-time
Hartland, NB – Fredericton, NB

The Senior Financial Analyst is a detail oriented and strategically minded individual that is a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team within Shared Services. This successful candidate will join a team that provides consulting financial services including the preparation and analysis of various financial reports, supporting business units and staff in the preparation of forecasts and budgets, Variance analysis, and including communication of results and recommendations to corporate and internal senior leadership as an active professional within the financial analysis and planning functions. The position will also be responsible for managing all processes to ensure that costs are allocated accurately including negotiating solutions and completing all necessary analytics to ensure accuracy and the protection of economic value. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have strong communication and collaborative skills, be inquisitive, have an attention to detail, while also effectively managing multiple deadlines.

How You’ll Help

  • Manage the allocation process for the new PCMCS cost allocation tool. This tool will be used to distribute shared costs by service to align reporting with the “One Day&Ross” model
  • Consult and Collaborate with regional FP&A team members to ensure allocation rules and methodology are continuously up-to-date and consistent with current utilization
  • Perform validation analysis to ensure the allocation drivers are providing the appropriate financial outcome (This will be for both Manual and System generated allocations)
  • Support the month end close process by performing financial analysis and providing commentary on variances related to the P&L, Working Capital and Operating Free Cash Flow
  • Support the Budgeting and Forecasting processes by gathering information, reviewing P&L, Working Capital and Cash forecasts and assisting in the preparation of financial presentations for senior management
  • Provide financial support & direction to other business units when required
  • Keep the Manager of FP&A informed on any progress or setbacks
  • Other adhoc projects or requests related to financial analysis, as required

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education, in Finance with Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • 5+ years of progressive business/finance experience, including planning and budgeting
  • Experience in the transportation industry an asset
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet/exceed deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a team
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Strong communicator with ability to consult across a variety of levels within the organization
  • English (verbal/written/spoken) required; French or other languages are an asset
  • Able to work with little supervision
  • Supervises and provides leadership to Financial Analysts and to non-financial managers in the various business units
