Senior Hardware Technical Architect
Green Edge Computing (GECCO) is a Victoria, BC based startup and computer and telecommunication hardware manufacturer focused on Edge Computing solutions with a low carbon footprint and environmental impact. We are looking for a talented individual with significant expertise in rugged computer systems, circuit board design, manufacturing, and compliance. In this strategic position, the ideal candidate will play an important role in growing the business, the development team, and the product portfolio, as well as establishing quality design and manufacturing processes and procedures that ensure efficiency and high growth. This job requires a presence in Victoria BC.
The Applicant for this position will be responsible for:
• Research, plan, design, develop, evaluate, and integrate computer and telecommunications hardware and related equipment.
• Architect and integration of high-end computer systems.
• Building, mentoring, and guiding a multidisciplinary development team.
• Identify, discuss, and negotiate product requirements including liaising with customers, prospects, partners, technical staff, and leadership to define key requirements.
• Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects.
• Write specifications, capture and/or review schematics and layout, generating and maintaining bill-of-materials for circuit boards and computer systems.
• Supervise, inspect, and provide support during the manufacturing, installation, and implementation of GECCO products.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and clients, while developing low-risk strategies to reduce cost of goods sold and protect margins.
• Test, characterize, and qualify prototype circuit boards and computer systems.
• Write quality control procedures and obtain various product and manufacturing certifications.
• Work on-site with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, build, and test prototype and final products. This job requires a presence in Victoria BC.
• Report in-person to senior leadership team.

We are looking for the following Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of strong experience in circuit board development and systems development, directly related to rugged MILSPEC products.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in mentoring and guiding a multi-disciplinary development team, including electrical, firmware, software, and mechanical disciplines.
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards (VITA 46, VITA 47, VITA 48, VITA 65, COM Express) with experience in product design for rugged environments.
• Excellent understanding of circuit board manufacturing techniques and processes.
• Excellent understanding of mechanical design concepts.
• Excellent understanding of interface standards including PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.
• Excellent documentation skills and experience with Microsoft Office tools.
• Efficient with recent versions of Altium PCB designer.
• Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 quality requirements is a plus.
• Familiarity with OpenBMC is a plus.
• Comfortable managing supplier and client relationships.
• Comfortable presenting and reporting to senior leadership team.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
Compensation:
• Competitive salary ($130k - $180k CAD depending on experience)
