Role overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our team. As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software applications using Java and related technologies. You will work closely with our team of software engineers and collaborate with multi-functional teams to design, develop and deliver innovative solutions.

What you’ll do
- Design, code, test and debug software applications using Java and related technologies.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and implement software requirements.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to peers for continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain user documentation for reference and reporting purposes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure standard methodologies are implemented in the development process.
What you bring to the role
- Proficiency in Java programming language
- Strong knowledge of software development principles, methodologies, and standard processes
- Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate
- Familiarity with database technologies like MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
- Understanding of web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and RESTful APIs
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git or SVN
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring three days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
