Senior Manager, Global Taxation
Base in Vancouver, the Senior Manager, Global Taxation will report to the SVP, Global Taxation. The incumbent is responsible for providing global tax compliance and transaction support related to investing in real estate. The role will also support Canadian, US, and international transactions and compliance as needed. This position works closely with QuadReal's Domestic and International Real Estate Development, Finance, Treasury, and Legal departments globally and with external tax advisors and other transaction advisors on strategic, complex, time-sensitive issues, often with competing deadlines.
As a Senior Manager, Global Taxation You Will:
Supports QuadReal's teams on tax analyses, modelling, structuring, and implementation of investments in Canadian, US, and international real estate and mortgages, working in conjunction with finance, legal, internal asset teams and external tax and legal advisors.
Assists with the review and preparation of global jurisdictions' statutory compliance requirements, including tax returns, forms, notices, reporting, provisions, estimated payments and other compliance, as required.
Assists with the management of QuadReal's investments in US Real Estate Investment Trusts, specifically ensures that REIT requirements are satisfied and develops/maintains a database to track and support REIT compliance.
Identifies and executes on opportunities to improve QuadReal's compliance process and workflow.
Works with the tax team and at the direction of the SVP, Global Taxation, to ensure investments are consistent with QuadReal's tax strategy and tax risk management policy
Manages relationships with external advisors and ensures effective and efficient use of such advisors
Ensures timely delivery of tax due diligence deliverables for investment acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations
Stays current with relevant tax law, and international tax trends and developments
Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies, and participates in business continuity planning
Your Background:
A professional accounting or law designation (CPA, , JD, LL.B. or international equivalent)
5 years or more experience in taxation with a law firm, accounting firm and/or in industry
A strong technical background in Canadian and/or US tax. A similar background in another developed economy tax system would also be considered
A strategic thinker and team player who is pro-active and self-motivated
A demonstrated ability to collaboratively engage staff and external advisors to research and solve complex and challenging problems
Tax technology experience is a bonus
Experience with domestic and international real estate and/or mortgage transactions is preferred, but will consider other experience

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000
The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual's skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
