Job Description
AECOM Edmonton is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design and construction of complex water/wastewater treatment facilities including water/wastewater treatment plants and water/wastewater pumping stations. You will work in a team environment with junior, intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced treatment and pumping station projects to our client base in Alberta.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Familiar with applicable codes as well as federal and provincial regulatory requirements.
Independently perform advanced technical assignments
Assist in the preparation of deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates related to water and wastewater related projects.
Perform field investigation for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents
Perform construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and respond to client questions
Manage projects and coordinate work with other engineering disciplines
Work within a project team environment and possess good presentation and client interface skills
Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications
Stay abreast of industry standards and approaches, as well as professional responsibilities
Adhere to AECOM health and safety policies and quality management systems
Mentor junior staff
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Mechanical Engineering + 6 years’ experience (ideally with an engineering firm) in process mechanical design.
Experience in design related to water and wastewater processes, and process mechanical equipment and piping.
Experience in construction supervision and familiarity with general engineering requirements.
Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in Alberta
Experience using Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word and Power Point
Physically able to climb ladders and enter utility manholes, tunnels, and other mechanical equipment spaces
Valid AB Class V Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of diverse water/wastewater experience
Experience managing complex multi-discipline projects
Experience using BIM360, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Project Familiarity with ISO quality management systems
Excellent written and verbal communication
Excellent attention to detail
