Dimensions
This position will ensure regulatory and inter-company procedural compliance and will generate competent, workable and safe mine designs and plans and measure performance and effectiveness of existing designs and systems.  This position will ensure the engineering department works safely, striving to achieve zero harm to people and property. They will be reporting to the Mine Technical Services Superintendent.
Purpose
To provide clarity and focus for the engineering group to achieve and surpass the mine’s safety and production targets and to add value to the operation.  Develop high confidence mine plans based on historical performance and continuous improvement activities.  To grow the people in the engineering group through performance review, training, guidance, and mentoring to reach their maximum potential
Essential Duties
Promoting Safety and Sustainability
-Align with Fatality Risk Management protocols at all sites
-Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and new designs
-Review plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standards
-Promote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policies 
Mine Planning and Mine Design
-Review and implement mid-term mine plans into short term mine plan.
-Develop high confidence quarterly forecasts to support mine production 
-Develop high confidence monthly plans to support mine production
-Optimize grade control and minimize dilution through effective incorporation of geological data and tasks in mine plan
-Liaise with Geotech team and incorporate guidance into mine plan
-Provide guidance to operating departments to maximize production, plan their activities and accurately measure key mining parameters
-Report monthly statistics for mining activities inclusive of costs and royalties
-Manage consultants and contractors on engineering projects
Strategic Planning
-Maintaining, reporting and monitoring of production statistics and performance to ensure the property’s goals and objectives are achieved
-Participate in Business Planning exercise at the senior management level, providing guidance on LOM options to increase value and optimize use of resources
-Provide support to exploration teams to ensure targets appropriately scheduled and incorporated into the mine plan
-Support reserve and resource calculations as required by the corporation
Training & Experience
-A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
-A minimum 5 years of mine operation and engineering experience 
-Be technically competent and have a good understanding of key business drivers for gold mining
-Strong Deswik skills
-Strong understanding of geologic influence on mine plan confidence
-Preference for Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO, or equivalent in other jurisdictions 
-Have strong communication and people skills
-Be focused, clear and decisive
-Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the engineering and operating teams
-Ability to effectively establish priorities and accordingly delegate work to engineering staff
Working Conditions
This is a site based position supporting our Hoyle Pond Operation in Timmins, ON
The schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off.
