An exciting opportunity awaits in the Capital Policy Branch, where you will lead and manage transformative initiatives on behalf of the Ministry of Education! What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
  • Lead and manage policy projects supporting the long-term capital planning, funding, operations, and related legislative framework and regulation
  • Provides technical leadership and direction to project team members from the Ministry, OPS partner ministries and School Boards
  • Provide senior-level expertise, advice and recommendations to senior management on education capital issues
  • Manage the connectivity and alignment with other ministries responsible for policies or programs that impact school infrastructure.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders


How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of and experience with policy development/analysis and program development.
  • You know how to apply change management, performance measurement, risk management and reporting principles and practices to identify and act on opportunities for change.
  • You can work with and integrate large amounts of information and knowledge of information/data management, security and privacy in accordance with privacy legislation (FIPPA).


Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • You have research, analytical and evaluation skills and knowledge to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis skills (e.g. statistics and modelling), environmental scans, and lead the research of complex issues.
  • You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals
  • You can identify issues/problems and develop appropriate recommendations or solutions.
  • You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity


Leadership and Project Management Skills:

  • You know service delivery management, operational planning and resource management practices.
  • You can effectively complete project deliverables from initial concept through completion
  • You can champion project management approaches, provide technical leadership and coach staff and provide expert advice to management and clients on performance improvement
  • You have experience providing leadership in policy and program development, delivery and implementation


Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

  • You have communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills to consult, provide advice, make recommendations, prepare and deliver presentations and to prepare correspondence, reports and briefings.
  • You can create and manage complex stakeholder relationships and lead consultations with ensuring a shared understanding
  • You can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shift in priorities
