Senior Project Architect (Construction)

We are looking for a Senior Project Architect (Construction) to support our business growth in Toronto. The Senior Project Architect(Construction) oversees project delivery, spanning from conceptual design to the final project handover to the construction team. This role requires a track record of success in designing experience-focused, design-build workplaces. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in translating concepts into practical solutions, collaborating with project design teams, and understanding materials and construction methods. Beyond technical skills, the successful candidate embodies a passion for design, leadership, mentorship, and fostering strong team and stakeholder relationships. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Leslie St Head Office.

How you will contribute:

• Maintain accuracy and quality control within the design and development function.
• Ensure the creation of complete and accurate drawings and plans for all projects.
• Oversee the architectural design of the project, collaborating with the assigned project design team.
• Take Feasibility and Permitting responsibility for all projects in the design and development process.
• Adhere to all phases of design and development, including schedule, milestones, and budget targets.
• Meet both the design schedule and the design construction budget.
• Provide support across all disciplines involved in the building project.
• Play an integral role in project planning, implementation, and accurate scheduling.
• Act as the owner and driver of a rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process. Any errors discovered in the field due to design or project development are identified, documented, remediated, and communicated to prevent recurrence.
• Contribute to the development of project staff by offering appropriate technical and functional guidance and performance feedback.
• Coach and motivate team members, emphasizing accountability and professionalism.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward change and continuous improvement.
• Possess knowledge of financial and accounting principles, understanding how decisions impact project bottom lines. Additionally, be adept at preparing budgets and identifying saturation points for staff and teams.
• Collaborate as a team member in establishing and overseeing the routine maintenance, development, and improvement of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• All other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

• 7-10 years progressive experience in architectural design within Architectural or Design Consultancy Firms
• Must have experience working on large scale and complex projects including addition and alterations, new build and preservation projects for low to high rise residential and commercial projects.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and knowledge of the Ontario Building Code & appropriate standards including experience with permitting processes.
• Architectural designation, Licensed Architect is a must.
• Has experience leading a design team and mentoring junior designers
• College diploma, university degree or combined academic background/experience in architectural design, project management, and construction.
• Proficiency in different software including CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit), Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, and other related software.
• Knowledge of appropriate legislation including Occupational Health & Safety Act and Employment Standards
• Above average technology skills (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Project Management software, Text, Email)
• Possesses strong organizational skills that enable team members to perform their tasks in alignment with the company's goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which are important in performing many of their duties, such as relaying information, preparing reports, and interacting with members of the organization.
• Able to collaborate appropriately with build-team members and management.
• Able to act with integrity, credibility, self-confidence, take initiative, be self-directed, and prioritize work.

This is not a hybrid or remote position. The successful candidate will be working at our Leslie Street Head Office, Mon to Fri 900am to 530pm.
