We are looking for a SeniorQuantity Surveyorto support our business growth in Toronto. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be reporting directly to the Managing Director. They will estimate the costs of construction projects, working with contractors, builders, and architects to provide the most cost-effective plans that meet the company's quality standards. They must have strong organizational and communication skills in order to manage and direct development plans. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Leslie St Head Office.

How you will contribute:

  • Manage entire life cycle costing processes.
  • Be responsible for pre, during and post construction costing/estimates.
  • Prepare estimates of costs of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in value management and value engineering techniques.
  • Review and contribute to the completion of the quantity surveying process for OTT construction projects.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations.
  • Conduct risk assessment and identify potential cost implications.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with owners, engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Provide expert advice on cost management and procurement strategies to project stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage project costs, including progress payments and variations.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Mentor and supervise junior Quantity Surveyors.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost control working on large scale projects with a developer or engineering consultancy
  • Relevant experience in interior design projects and A&A projects will be a strong plus
  • Membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS), The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or other relevant professional organization is preferred.
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or working towards PQS, is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to do value engineering based on different project objectives
  • In-depth knowledge of construction cost management, contract administration, and procurement processes.
  • Proven skills in negotiating with suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess cost-related issues.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with project teams and stakeholders.

This is not a hybrid or remote position. The successful candidate will be working at our Leslie Street Head Office, Mon to Fri 900am to 530pm.
