Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Sherwood Park office is recruiting for a Senior Advisor, Safety to join the team.  This position reports directly to the Manager, Safety – Projects & Contractors and is part of the corporate SSEM Group, External Affairs Division. Direct reports include the applicable Contract Safety Representatives in the field.
Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture – Zero by Choice, the Safety Service Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.
The Advisor will be integral in leading and collaboratively building upon this prevention culture to improve safety performance in a sustainable manner.   
 
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
-Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina/safety;
-Act as a subject matter expert on the Pembina Safety Program and relevant safety regulations;
-Support team safety meetings and deliver presentations on key safety topics;
-Build and enhance relationships with stakeholders where projects are being executed, with the aim to implement safe, cost-effective loss prevention strategies;
-Develop and review hazard assessments for high-risk activities,  including confined space entry, working at heights, and construction projects.;
-Participate in internal and external audits;
-Mentor and coach others to enhance safety leadership skills and provide guidance on safety-related issues;
-Support contractor selection by reviewing ISNetworld grading and results, evaluating contractors, grading contractor submissions, and reviewing safety sections of project scopes of work;
-Support contractor kickoff and Safety Culture Expectation meetings;
-Collaborate with project managers to communicate safety expectations and identify necessary inspections, in accordance with Project Safety Plans (PSP’s);
-Support project teams in completing PSP's, and review and approve them when an external Prime Contractor is assigned;
-Analyze and communicate safety statistics to the project manager and Construction Management Team (CMT) for preventive measures;
-Arrange on-site safety support, including procurement, onboarding, and supervision of contract safety representatives;
-Develop project-specific safety KPI metrics;
-Supervise Construction Safety Representatives, ensuring they adhere to company safety standards;
-Collaborate with the Emergency Management team to align project emergency response plans with corporate plans;
-Identify and develop "Learning from Incidents" materials for distribution; and
-Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
 
Qualifications:
-Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with Canadian Registered Safety Professional (Canadian designation) / CRSP;
-8+ years of industry experience in oil and gas operations, maintenance, construction and/or safety related discipline;
-A background in the oil and gas sector, safety expertise and/or extensive pipeline construction/maintenance experience;
-Strong knowledge of applicable industry safety requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including those of Canadian and United States Jurisdictions;
-Demonstrated ability to be innovative, tactical, as well as initiate and manage change;
-Work collaboratively, negotiate, and influence without authority; 
-Solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, lead teams, and deliver results;
-MS Office and a demonstrated aptitude working with other business-related computer programs and applications;
-Competency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools; and
-Extensive experience with ISNetworld, including system development, data management, metrics, reporting, as well as auditing protocols, tools, and practices.
 
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract. 
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Sherwood Park, AB.
 
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
