Job Description

Lumotive is seeking a talented, energetic Software Applications Lead to be the next addition to our elite team. Software engineering at Lumotive plays a critical role in our product development organization, both providing critical input to our system architecture definitions as well as delivering the control and processing solutions that translate raw data into accurate results which ultimately determine the performance capabilities of the final application.

This role is part of our foundational engineering team and will have a direct impact on customer adoption of our reference designs. You should have a passion for creating software solutions to challenging new problems while working within the constraints of edge and embedded compute platforms. Your knowledge and skills will be an asset to our company by both expanding the capabilities of our software engineering team and partnering with other functional leads to deliver efficient system-level results.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development and support for Lumotive’s Lidar 2.0 SDK
  • Represent SW team as a subject expert to customer teams
  • Acquire detailed understanding of customer’s application requirements and lead delivery of a software solution using Lumotive’s core designs
  • Support porting and optimization of SW on customer specific processor requirements
  • Lead standardization of our API to ensure mass market adoption and forward compatibility
  • Write drivers and libraries to support our HW products and peripherals
  • Contribute to implementation of ISP/DSP algorithms on embedded processors
  • Independently develop product features on-time and on-target
  • Assist with HW bring-up by providing tools and/or debugging hands-on
  • Collaborate with team leads and managers to define SW system architecture
  • Mentor junior individual contributors and non-SW engineers with best practices
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment as part of a highly talented and growing team
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Expert in C and modern C++ for edge/embedded systems
  • Proficient in Python for workflow automation and data analysis
  • Experience programming complex SoCs with accelerators, I/O peripherals, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded Linux development and distributions (i.e. Yocto)
  • Experience with RTOS configuration and development
  • Experience with OpenCL, preferably targeted to embedded GPUs
  • Experience interfacing with FPGAs and other custom logic devices (i.e. ASICs)
  • Experience with implementing algorithms optimized for performance or power
  • Experience with Windows toolchains and installers
  • Experience or exposure to lidar perception stack and sensor fusion
