Our tax team is seeking a self-starter to join our collaborative team. This exciting and diverse Tax Analyst or Senior Tax Advisor role will be working primarily in creating and maintaining the new processes for claiming current and proposed government clean energy tax incentives (in particular the new Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage investment tax credit ("CCUS ITC") as well as supporting the Tax Audit and Compliance functions. This is a job best suited for a candidate that has previous experience in tax compliance, ideally with experience in preparing tax incentive claims. They will have the ability to multi-task and are a self-starter with high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet internal and external deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain the new process for accessing the CCUS ITC and other proposed government clean energy tax incentives
Be part of the team that prepares the SRED claims
Assist in the resolution of CRA audits through the preparation of responses for audit queries
Prepare and file corporate and partnership income tax returns and other necessary filings as required
Work with other functions in Tax Department, Finance department and operations as required
Respond to ad hoc internal requests as required
Work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications:
Minimum five years of corporate income tax work experience
A Bachelors' degree in finance or accounting
Completion of a recognized accounting designation
Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Courses level I and II is considered an asset
Experience in tax compliance, ideally preparing SRED or other ITC claims
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Oil and gas industry experience is desirable.
A high degree of initiative, self-motivation and inter-personal skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively work in a deadline-driven environment and handle a diverse workload
Working knowledge with SAP (running GL details, financial information, etc.) is desirable
