What is the opportunity?

The Senior Writer develops and writes new marketing to drive brand awareness and meet marketing business goals across all media channels. Content is created for client-facing and internal audiences. Works with groups of key stakeholders within Marketing and across RBC divisions to define and/or improve content processes and systems.

What will you do?

  • Partner with Marketing managers, coordinators and other business partners to understand business needs, propose solutions and write content to meet those needs.
  • Interprets writing requests and customers' needs into concrete content for an advertising product; provides support in editorial and copywriting procedures.
  • Serves as editor of two newsletters, including working with senior managers to define market-appropriate content, developing content, and overseeing production process. Analyzes newsletter metrics to determine content for future issues.
  • Reviews, proofreads, and edits the content of marketing deliverables to ensure accurate and relevant information is delivered on time.
  • Foster positive and productive working relationships with key stakeholders, including other Marketing teams and business partners. 
  • Estimates production costs and oversees work done by external suppliers.
  • Takes a leadership role in identifying potential improvements in department processes and systems; gathers appropriate stakeholders to collaboratively work through a solution.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 7-10 years as a copy writer or content specialist
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, or relevant field
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience writing for digital channels, particularly social media for business
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem identification, analytical and resolution skills

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in Adobe Workfront
  • Familiarity with the financial industry
  • Experience writing for social media, email marketing and other digital platforms
