Role: Coordinate, oversee, support, and implement all aspects of the Seniors Entitlement Service (SES)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Recruit, interview, and screen potential SES Advocates
· Provide supervision, orientation, and training of Volunteers working with SES
· Facilitate monthly advocate meetings and build a sense of team amongst Seniors Entitlement volunteers and staff
· Work collaboratively and provide mentorship and supervision to other SES volunteers
· Act as the senior practitioner in this program, able to model good practice to volunteers and take on situations that may be too complex for available SES volunteers
· Facilitate regular performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to SES volunteers on a regular basis
· Schedule SES volunteer Advocates and backfill shifts as required
· Recommend policies and procedures as needed for SES
· Approach work utilizing best practice strategies
· Ensure the office and program environment is welcoming, suitable, respectful, clean, and safe for the operation of SES appointments
· Coach and train SES Advocates in awareness about various essential and otherwise beneficial services, programs and resources for seniors. This includes ensuring an SES volunteer handbook is available
· Coach, train, and support SES Advocates in active listening, helping conversations, collaboration, problem solving, addressing/responding to abuse, and addressing/responding to various hardships.
· System navigation (healthcare, housing, financial and legal matters) and the maintenance of the infrastructure that facilitates system navigation Seniors Entitlement advocates and clients
· Support to address elder abuse and unexpected hardships
· Seek out affordable, appropriate training opportunities for SES volunteers
· Raise SES profile, communicate with relevant professionals to network and discuss specific seniors when appropriate
· Foster a connection to key family members and/or friends, seniors supports and other assets that can help with a senior’s life success
· To respond to general inquiries regarding Quadra Village Community Centre (QVCC), and to share in the work of operating and maintaining an inclusive, functional Centre.
· To be familiar with and implement QVCC’s policies, procedures, and practices
· To ensure maintenance and tabulation of statistics and case files regarding SES activities
· To make regular written and verbal reports as required by the Executive Director
· To implement project/proposal development and funding strategies in conjunction with the Executive Director.
· To perform other related duties when required and approved by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
· Commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist practice
· Ability to work with integrity and respect in a diverse, multi-cultural community centre
· Post-secondary degree or certification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Social Work, Community Services, Volunteer Management or comparable filed of study).
· Minimum 18 months experience in supervision and volunteer coordination, with the demonstrated ability to guide and motivate
· Minimum 3 years experience in advocacy, community resource/referral and seniors’ work.
· Demonstrated skills in general office duties such as scheduling, typing, document/report preparation and layout, and knowledge of personal computer applications
· Excellent interpersonal and collaborative ability
· Criminal Record Check and Standard First Aid is required (or agreement to obtain these in a timely fashion)

Hours of Work:
· 20 hours per week with some of the daytime hours scheduled each of the 3 days that SES offers regular appointments
· Ability to respond to time sensitive requests from SES volunteers and urgent matters
· Limited evenings and/or weekends are required. Typically, this is a few days of the year and revolves around overall QVCC needs and event.
