Course Number and Title: PHL217H1S Introduction to Continental Philosophy
Course Description: An introduction to some of the post-Hegelian thinkers who inspired the various philosophical movements broadly referred to as continental, such as phenomenology, existentialism, deconstruction, and post-modernism. Questions include the will, faith, death, existence, history and politics, rationality and its limits, encountering an other. Authors studied may include: Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Marx, Freud, Heidegger, Sartre.

Schedule: Lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays 14:00-15:00; Tutorials on Fridays, 12:00-15:00
Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1st, 2023 - April 30th, 2023
Rate of Pay: $50.74 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: One year prior experience as a TA, preferably in Philosophy at U of T. Good prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course.
Description of Duties:
- Holding up to 3 one-hour tutorials each week
- Preparation for tutorials and grading
- Grading
- Attending training sessions/meetings with the course instructor
- Attending WIT training sessions
- Organizing and submitting grades
- Holding office hours
- Lecture attendance
- General teaching-related duties
