Shipping and Receiving Job Description
We are looking for someone experienced in Shipping and Receiving to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for assisting in managing incoming and outgoing products, ensuring the accuracy of shipments, on-time performance and adhering to company policies and procedures including safety practices.
Responsibilities:
Shipping: Preparing outgoing products for shipment by packing items securely, labelling packages accurately, and effectively loading trailers to protect products from damage during transport.
Receiving: Receiving incoming shipments, assisting with, or shunting products between buildings, verifying contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and manifests. Inspect deliveries for damage, discrepancies, or defects, and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of shipped and received goods. Perform visual inspections and quality checks to identify any issues or discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, or damage to goods. Follow proper handling procedures for hazardous materials or fragile items. Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to Shipping and Receiving operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipments and inventory.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in handling and storing goods.
- Availability to work overtime.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as stand, walk, or bend for extended periods.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
