Job description

Being a Shuttle Bus Driver for our Park N' Fly contract is more than just a job – it's an opportunity to provide a high quality service to passengers from around the world. If you're diver with a Full Class 4 license (endorsed to carry 8 or more passengers) or with a Class 2 Bus License then this could be the opportunity for you.


Based at the Halifax International Airport your duties will include; driving passengers to and from the Airport and Parking facility, assisting passengers with wayfinding and other security needs. In this role, you have the opportunity to work closely with our valued partners at Halifax International Airport.


While duties vary by assignment, the responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:


  • Safely transporting passengers from the secure Park'N Fly location to the airport terminal
  • Welcoming passengers using superior customer service skills.
  • Acting as an ambassador by representing Nova Scotia with warmth and hospitality.
  • Assisting passengers with baggage, when required
  • Ensuring the health and safety of self and others in the workplace
  • Adhering to CNS’ Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, systems, and practices (and those of the Clients we serve)
  • Respecting CNS policies, Site Work Instructions, and Site Supervisor’s direction
  • Other functions may include reception/administration, reporting, emergency management and access control

THE ROLE

Position: Park'N Fly Shuttle Bus Driver (multiple positions)
Competition Number: CNS 2024-03-14
Location: Halifax Stanfield International Airport
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Working Hours: Rotating 12-hour shifts, various hours/days of the week.


WHO WE’RE SEEKING


Candidates must:

  • Be aged 19 or older;
  • Hold a valid Nova Scotia driver's license, Class 4 bus designation (must specifically be bus designation);
  • Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted;
  • Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check;
  • Be eligible to apply for Government of Canada personnel security screening;
  • Be eligible to obtain an RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card) through Transport Canada. This is required to fuel the vehicle as needed;
  • Be willing to be subject to, and successful in, an extensive background check through Transport Canada;
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (the ability to work in both official languages would be considered an asset).

Qualifications and Skills
The selected candidate will be a professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and “Can Do” attitude. Both physical and mental fitness is required. This often involves working in all types of environmental conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.


Key qualifications and skills to be successful include, but are not limited to:

  • Mental alertness with an ability to:
    • react calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis
    • concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours
    • communicate observed characteristics/behaviour (good memory)
    • demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
  • Physical fitness with an ability to:
    • be comfortable seated for extended periods of time
    • display good dexterity and balance
    • rely on all senses in assessing changes to the work environment
  • Superior attention to detail with very good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer literacy, and/or an aptitude to learn is an asset
  • Achievement of First Aid certification
  • Successful completion of the CASP (Canadian Aviation Security Awareness Program) on-line training course
  • Successful completion of a personnel training program in assisting persons with disabilities, as required by the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations
  • Successful completion of the Commissionaires Security Officer Course (online and/or in-class)

Although not required to apply, the following attributes are considered assets:

  • Use of Force Certified
  • Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces or RCMP
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention trained
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset

We support our people by investing in their training; all new Commissionaires will be expected to achieve our First Aid certification, as well as successfully complete the Commissionaires Security Officer Course.
