Sign Installer Trainee

A Brooks Signs installer must have knowledge and experience in the installation and service of various types of signs from vinyl to illuminated sign boxes to interior signage.

We are seeking to provide extended training to a candidate who demonstrates the ambition and committment to expand their existing construction knowledge and skill base.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install various types of signage (fascia, channel letters, vinyl, pylons, canopies, awnings, etc).
• Certified or willing to be trained to safely and efficiently operate aerial platform equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.) and 8-ton crane truck.
• Work with a team to install various types of signage (fascia, channel letters, vinyl, pylons, canopies, awnings, etc).
• Work closely with the install coordinator and customers to understand the expectations for each installation.
• Learn to review drawings, work orders and site surveys to fully understand the installation requirements for a particular job
• Learn to provide documentation of daily visual inspection of trucks and trailers (if applicable)
• Be conscious of safety and hazards at all times
• Maintain driver logs as per MOL regulations
• Completing Install/Service Order, and other requested paperwork at job closure, including taking completion photos
• Be conscious of safety and hazards at all times, and report potential/actual hazards to the Install Manager.
• Be conscious of OHSA and MOL required training/certification and your personal status
• Perform other duties and special projects as requested
• Complete all company required and funded training programs

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

• Previous experience in the sign or construction industry an asset but not necessary
• Previous experience in construction or prefab construction assembly
• Must be comfortable with hand tools and have mechanical aptitude
• Must be comfortable working at heights and working in varying weather conditions
• Have basic knowledge of electrical components and how to work with them
• Understand or be willing to learn MTO regulations for weight, tie downs, and traffic safety.
• Strong communication skills; proficiency in English is required
• Clean driving record
• A solutions-oriented self-starter; you thrive off change and enjoy working cooperatively and effectively with your team members
• Have demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead by example.
• The flexibility to adapt and take on various tasks to ensure objectives are met
• Willing to travel if necessary, including periodic overnight stays
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Previous crane and installation experience is required

Candidates with some or all of the following credentials will be given preferred applicant status (successful applicants will receive company funded training if required):

• D Licensed Driver
• Sign Erector Training Certificate
• Mobile Crane Operators Certificate, 8-ton, an asset
• Fall Arrest and Working at Heights
• Petroleum Orientated Safety Training P.O.S.T.

Salary: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
