Job description

Hanover Bentinck and Brant Agricultural Society (HBBAS) is a not-for-profit Agricultural Society that’s vision is to promote agriculture and create jobs in agriculture in particular Horse Racing. HBBAS operates live racing, simulcast racing, live stabling, food and beverage operations, and an annual Fair consisting of home craft, livestock exhibits and displays and entertainment and children’s activities.

We are currently looking to hire a Simulcast Teller in a part-time position throughout the year. If you have great customer service and meet the below qualifications, we would love to hear from you.

Job title:

Hours: Monday and Tuesday plus every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)

· Race season schedule (approximately 50 hours every 2 weeks)

Status: Part-time Seasonal until October 1st, 2024.

Wage: Starting at$16.70 per hour

Location: Hanover Raceway/Gateway Casino

· 265 5th St, Hanover, ON N4N 3X3 (Inside Gateway Casino)

Requirements

Ø Must be 19 years of age.

Ø Must have clean/clear criminal record check.

Ø Able to obtain an AGCO license

Ø Commit to working a schedule with some flexibility.

o Schedules are set for the month in advance

Ø Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ø Ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy.

Ø Accuracy and attention to detail.

Ø Previous retail with cash and computer handling skills an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Greet and answer customers’ enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

· Create a positive customer experience by understanding and meeting customers’ service needs accurately and efficiently.

· Responsible for turning on and programming the 8 Simulcast televisions to the required channels for the races.

· Count the money tills each day at the start of your shift.

· Count the money in the safe each day to ensure the money balances at the start of your shift.

· Print race programs for the customers as needed and collect program fee's (Sale of racing programs).

· Record the number of programs printed and sold each day

· Assisting new bettors to understand how wagering works.

· Take client bets, provide printed slips and collect betting fees and/or self-serve vouchers from the client.

· Wipe down the tables and chairs after a client leaves.

· Wipe down the self serve teller machines.

· Complete the required documentation at the end of your shift.

· Empty the self serve teller machines at the end of your shift.

· Count the money tills and the safe money at the end of your shift to make sure the money balances out.

· Perform other duties as required by your manager.
