We are currently seeking a dedicated Foreman/womanto join our team in Ottawa who will contribute to overall success of the Construction Site by providing quality work. You will have at least one year of carpentry experience with construction being an asset. This position will be held in Ottawa as well as the potential to travel to other markets if needed.
What You Will Do:
- Good understanding of construction schedules and the ability to implement changes to accommodate work schedule accordingly
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints and convey this information to others with high accuracy
- Plan, implement and manage construction tasks in accordance with priorities and goals
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to report project status to Site Superintendent daily
- Good understanding of safety policies and safe work while ensuring that all safety rules are being followed at all times
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead by example
- Provide proper guidance and learning opportunities for laborers and apprentices
- Efficiently delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and sub-trades
- Develop and oversee quality standards on all sites
- Able to work effectively in various climatic conditions
You Will Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role; preferably in multi-family wood frame
- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter preferred
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Ability to travel across Canada to other construction sites temporarily if needed
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work unsupervised
- Superior understanding of safety policies and safe work practices
- Possess strong leadership skills with effective participation in team environment
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Strong work ethic and a positive team player
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Currently reside in Ottawa
