POSITION: Skilled Trades

UNIT: Maintenance

STATUS: Part-Time

START DATE: Immediately

SALARY RANGE: $31.26 - $33.23 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Skilled Trades position provides quality services for operating and maintaining a Healthcare facility in accordance with the established procedures. Also provides quality maintenance services to the hospital equipment, facilities, and grounds. General maintenance ability is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession of a valid Provincial Certificate of Qualification by the Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development for the Province of Ontario
• 2-3 years previous maintenance/skilled trade experience plus the required hours to complete the apprenticeship program. Knowledgeable in electrical, plumbing, mechanical with utility equipment preferred
• Knowledge of boilers, controls, pumps, diesel generators, water treatment, compressors, auxiliary equipment preferred

POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Responsible for prioritizing and completion of duties in a timely fashion
• Identifies environmental opportunities to improve conditions/efficiency of operations
• Operates machinery, equipment, and power tools in a safe manner
• Able to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Assist contractors during construction projects as required.
• Maintains building temperatures
• Performs boiler tests and building checks daily
• Lead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational Plans

HOURS OF WORK: 0700-1500 or 0900-1700; Weekends as per rotating schedule. Must be able to take after hours on call as per rotating schedule.

• Evening shift
• On call
• Weekends as needed
