As a Small Motor Mechanic, you will repair and maintain small machines and equipment in the shop or at field locations. Primary duties include:
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle and equipment inspection and drive to field locations to repair small machines and equipment that have failed on-site.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain small machines and equipment (e.g. crosswalk painting machines, trailers and detour signs), including cleaning parts and replacing components.
- Design, fabricate and modify implements in response to specific needs (e.g. attachment to a Bobcat that allows for sign boards to be transported to the shop for repairs)
- Order and maintain inventories of supplies and parts, including using and reconciling a Corporate Credit Card.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma plus a small engine repair certificate from an accredited institution and at least 2 years of experience performing tune-up, repair, maintenance, and overhauls of typical small engines including disassembly, inspection, and assembly.
- Experience with solar powered sign boards and hydraulically run equipment and working in a garage or repair shop is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Attention to detail, proficiency with problem solving, keeping accurate maintenance records and safety awareness are essential in this role.
- The ability to work as a part of a team and strong verbal and written communication is essential in this role.
Working Conditions: Work outside, in field locations (approximately 30% of the time), drive in traffic and may operate equipment when troubleshooting; and subject to working with hand and electric tools and chemicals.

- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
