Job Location: Oskayak High School
Job Summary: The Social Worker provides support for Grade 9-12 students in all aspects of self that align with Indigenous Ways of being. This will include; individual, group counselling, crisis intervention and spiritual supports. The Social Worker will also be working with parents, caregivers, school personnel and outside agencies to support students in all aspects of life.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work (with a preference for a Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work and/or Masters of Social Work)
- Registered or eligible for registration in SASW
- A minimum of three to five years experience working in a Social Worker role
- Knowledge of First Nations, Metis and Inuit languages, histories and cultures
- Association with First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities, kinship, spirituality and organizations
- Commitment to the ideals and principles of Catholic education
- Successful related experience working with teenagers and families
- A good working knowledge of mental health issues, crisis management and interventions
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
- A demonstrated commitment to learning about and for Indigenous students
- Previous work experience as a member of an inter-disciplinary team
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and respond to crisis situations
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Terms of Employment:
- As per Collective Agreement
- 7.25 hrs/day
- Start date ASAP and continue to June 28, 2024, or earlier if division needs change
- Salary range - corresponding hourly rate as per CUPE 2268 CBA
