Reporting to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health the applicant′s primary responsibility will be conducting psychosocial assessments and providing individual, family and group therapy to children and adolescents with significant mental health issues.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized Master of Social Work program
  • Membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in Child and Adolescent mental health including experience working in a children′s outpatient mental health clinic.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise with children and adolescents who experience serious mental illness
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment, crisis intervention, and goal-oriented, solution-focused therapy techniques with children and adolescents
  • Well-developed skills in conducting psycho-social assessments for youth experience mental health problems and experience working with their families
  • Knowledge of community resources and application of the Mental Health Act
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery model principles, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour therapy with youth
  • Experience in developing and facilitating treatment groups
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills
  • Proven ability as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
