Purpose

Scotiabank's Global Operations Technology team (GOT) is changing the way we think about software development and how we run and maintain a technology portfolio which includes mission critical applications across our Contact Centre, Collections, Fraud and Operations areas across the global landscape of the bank that help differentiate us in a highly competitive environment.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Driving conceptual, leading to executable Solution Architectures
  • Participating in design discussions focused on scalability, design and implementation of best practices.
  • Designing architectural solutions, roadmaps and related strategies that are aligned to Enterprise Standards in the effort to modernization software applications.
  • Present and leverage technical information and solutions in a way that establishes trust relationships, persuades stakeholders and achieves understanding and consensus at all levels.
  • Assess and analyze business strategy & requirements, the current technical environment and technology options to evaluate solution alternatives that meet business needs and bank strategy.
  • Participating in project planning and review sessions.
  • Leading architectural design sessions.
  • Driving innovation that can bring business values, participating in building Proof of Concepts
  • Partner with multiple teams Bank wide to collaborate on strategy and direction and apply to architecture and application design.
  • Assisting senior management to enforce standards and methodology; ensuring solutions are in line with the technology roadmap and mentoring the technical team members on a project to project basis.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Education and Experience

  • 7+ years of software engineering industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, preferably on designing and delivering large scale enterprise solutions
  • 3+ years of banking experience
  • 3+ years of cloud solution experience
  • Experience in architecture design processes, creating reference architectures and architecture artifacts that guide design decisions related to applications, data, integration and infrastructure.
  • Experience in modernizing legacy systems or similar transformational initiatives
  • Hands-on experience in the system analysis, design, architecture of complex, multi-tier development & production environments involving:
    • Microservices design
    • Event driven architecture
    • ETL and data solutions
    • Domain driven design techniques
    • Cloud platforms deployment
    • System resiliency engineering Agile practices applied to a product team.
  • Experience with Business Process Management and low code development such as PEGA, Salesforce, Microsoft Power Platforms is an asset
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in Banking industry is an asset.
