Reporting to the Section Leader, Mineral Processing, and working under the direction of the Project Leaders, the Senior Research Technologist, TST, carries out and provides accurate experimental data for assigned metallurgical projects. This posting is in the area of Mineral Processing.
This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Conduct complex experimental research programs under minimal supervision; provide direction to Technicians and other personnel during the operation of research pilot plants or while conducting off-site research programs
  • Contribute to technical investigations by providing input into planning of projects and development of a project definition worksheet; prepare formal reports with recommendations
  • Use initiative and a broad practical expertise to help develop ideas and plan new research projects requested by TST personnel and Teck management
  • Contribute to the success of proposed projects by developing new experimental procedures for research projects and analytical methods to perform non-routine metallurgical investigations and monitor process or reaction being studied
  • Use a broad knowledge of chemistry and related engineering principles to evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects and aid in developing process design criteria
  • Provide consultation services to outside properties; recognized as a technical specialist; work independently and use a wide range of outside contacts

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a recognized Institute of Technology or University in metallurgical, mineral processing, or chemical sciences with 8 or more years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrate good metallurgical experiment techniques, particularly flotation
  • Possess computer skills including familiarity with MS Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Team player with good communication skills is essential
  • Travel to work at other sites is a requirement for this position

Salary Range: $44.99 /Hour
