Settlement Support Worker in Schools Worker (fluency in French language will be an asset)
The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking qualified individual to staff the full-time term position of Settlement Support Worker in Schools Worker. The term for this position is April 1,2024 to March 31,2025 with possibility of extension
The Settlement Support Worker in Schools (SSWIS) program is a shared partnership between the Regina Open Door Society (RODS), the Regina Public School Board (RPSB) Regina Catholic Schools, Prairie Valley School Division, Conseil des Ecoles Fransaskoises, and Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Desired qualifications/education
Fluency in French language
2 to 3 year's human services experience; A Post-Secondary education or related
The successful applicant will also require a criminal record check, clean child abuse registry record, reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and a clean driver abstract.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to schools in Regina to deliver services.
Duties include but not limited to, the following:
Providing services in a supportive and culturally-sensitive and linguistically-appropriate manner
Assessing the assets and needs of immigrant students and provide appropriate referral;
Work with RODS program to connect newcomer families with services in the community
The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM. There is a cost-shared benefits package available to the employee with successful completion of a six-month probationary period. The annual salary for this position is $ 41,551.57 ($23.67 per hour)
