Stacker Operator / Labourer

Gold Bond Canada, Ltd. operates a large open-pit gypsum mine in Milford, NS. We are a team-based organization relying on progressive operating techniques to stay a leader in a very competitive market environment. In addition to the quarry, the facility consists of a dock site location in Dartmouth, both of which have train loading and unloading components.

We are seeking to fill a Stacker Operator / Laborer position at our dock site location.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting maintenance staff in ensuring safe and efficient maintenance activities on a range of equipment and machinery.
• Cleaning and preparing industrial site
• Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
• Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
• Following instructions from supervisors and implementing work plans.
• Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
• general labouring and assisting with maintaining general site tidiness;, assisting in operation of tools and equipment; cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment; assisting in maintaining site safety and security.
• as directed by the shift supervisor to assist with general site storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unloading and checking deliveries and undertaking tasks to assist tradesmen generally
• liaising with shift supervisor and other site workers and performing jobs as they arise
• work using your own initiative within specified parameters – do not wait to be asked
• ensure compliance with codes of practice and legislation, including health and safety
• maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with your work
• Strong communication, safety focused, teamwork and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Operating heavy equipment, particularly dozer experience a definite asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
