Job Summary
Make a difference in this rewarding career opportunity
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province of BC's primary emergency response organization. It operates year-round to deliver its mandate for wildfire management and response to natural hazard emergencies. The BCWS operates provincially, delivering services through six fire centres, thirty-three zones and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria.
Working closely with the rest of the provincial operations team, the Planning Officer will work in partnership with partner organizations, government agencies and stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain the planning foundation for All Hazard's Preparedness Program. This includes coordinating initiatives to integrate All Hazard's preparedness and response into government's emergency management planning framework (e.g., Provincial Hazard Response Plans, Ministry Hazard Response Plans) and into BCWS' existing preparedness and response procedures. The position will oversee and coordinate the development and maintenance of guidelines and strategies for planning BCWS' All Hazard's preparedness and response at the local, regional, and provincial levels. The position will work in partnerships with Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR), supporting Ministries and partner organizations to integrate BCWS' assets and capabilities into provincial planning frameworks.
Although this is a provincial-level position, the Planning Officer will work closely with a broad range of BCWS and EMCR provincial and regional staff and has a strong focus on collaborative delivery with the organization's partners, including EMCR, supporting Ministries, and other stakeholders.
